Nylon Canopy: We chose nylon for our canopy. It costs a little more than common “pongee” material, but it’s highly durable and in our testing it did a better job shedding rain as well as shaking off water than “pongee” material. Never be stuck with a soggy umbrella again.
Steel Frame & Ribs: Our frame is comprised of 8 ribs of corrosion-treated steel and flexible fiberglass. This means a canopy that will resist wind, and avoid the bending or warping of ribs that tends to put umbrellas in the trash.
Most umbrellas – even many of those claiming to be “windproof” – use an aluminum frame that saves some cost, but compromises strength. Our use of steel in the center shaft allows us to use a stronger spring for the automatic open and close mechanism, ensuring reliable opening at the touch of our signature yellow button for years to come.
